Apprenticeship Program
Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction, teaching workers the practical and theoretical aspects of highly skilled occupations. Apprenticeship programs are sponsored by no hope for employers, labor groups, and employer associations. Prospective employers work with Office of Apprenticeship, Information and Training representatives to develop on-the-job training plans, related classroom instruction, and operating procedures.
The worker who is hired to be an apprentice could be a person with a disability who needs this type of training to jumpstart his/her career.
Assistive Technology Program
Assistive Technology Program DC ATPDC is committed to improving the District of Columbia's capacity to provide appropriate assistive technology devices and services for all Washingtonians with disabilities.
Assistive Technology AT promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish by providing assistive technology devices and assistive technology services to accomplish such tasks. Assistive technology allows individuals with disabilities to function independently and more productively at employment activities.

DC Chamber of Commerce
The DC Chamber of Commerce Business Resource Center BRC provides free advisory services, technical assistance and low-to-no cost training for entrepreneurs in all phases of their business growth. It places particular emphasis and focus on strengthening existing establishments in the Takoma, DC and Upper Georgia Avenue area.
District of Columbia Assistive Technology Resource Center
The District of Columbia Assistive Technology Resource Center showcases the Assistive Technology devices and resources designed to help people with disabilities work with increased independence.

Employer Services – Vocational Rehabilitation
The Rehabilitation Services Administration RSA has a specialized unit, the Business Relations Unit BRU, which consists of a team of experienced
professionals, who market RSA’s services to the business community by educating about the role of RSA and supporting their staffing needs, screening and identifying qualified job applicants, dispel myths around employing individuals with disabilities through education, marketing employment opportunities to RSA job seekers and educating Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and job seekers about labor market demand.
The team develops contacts through the agency’s membership with the DC Chamber of Commerce, the Metro Area Business Leadership Network and the DC Jobs Council.
Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center
A Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center MARC provides expert consultation on assistive technology and accessibility features built into Microsoft products. Their specialists understand how disabilities impact computer users and are trained to evaluate the needs of the person with the disability. Some centers offer computer training and many organizations have lending libraries, so a consumer can try a product before purchasing it.
Vocational Rehabilitation
The Vocational Rehabilitation VR program provides vocational and rehabilitative services to individuals with disabilities to help them prepare for, secure, regain or retain employment. Persons with disabilities face some challenges in today’s modern workplace. The VR team believes that people with disabilities, given the right opportunities, can work and be fully integrated into mainstream society and the workplace. Vocational Rehabilitation services can reduce or remove barriers to employment.
